CM condoles Rajasulochana's death

Veteran actress Raja Sulochana, who acted in over 200 films in various languages, passed away following a prolonged illness. Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa condoled her death.  The 78-year-old actress in her heyday was a heartthrob of many with her combination of looks and talent. Born in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, the doe-eyed actress was also a Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dancer.

She had given many stage performances in a parallel career like many of her contemporaries Padmini and Vijayanthimala. Kollywood and the Telugu film industry mourned her demise, while some of her yesteryear film colleagues paid their last respects at her residence in Madipakkam here.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa condoled her death and described her as a versatile artiste of South Indian cinema. She said, 'I am shocked to know about the demise of Raja Sulochana. She had been part of over 275 films and acted opposite M G Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, N T Rama Rao, Nageswara Rao and Rajkumar among others'.
