K-Town to celebrate 100 years in Cinema.

To celebrate the centenary of the Indian film industry, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) has come up with a novel plan. Members of the film chambers of the four south Indian states met earlier this week to firm up a plan to collectively celebrate Indian cinema.

The grand function will happen around April 26 and 28 in Chennai. The programme will include felicitations of all those who have made a difference in the industry. The programme is slated to happen at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, which is currently under renovation. The film board has also planned to approach CM of TN, Ms Jayalalitha for helping with the venue and arrangements.

Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) President B Vijayakumar says, "We plan on inviting the President of India as the chief guest and also have all the four south Chief Ministers present." The industries are looking at having around a week's time without shoots, so that all members from the various associations can take part whole-heartedly.

"We will be discussing with the heads of associations, including Ambareesh, Thara and Rockline Venkatesh to figure out the time all their members can take off for rehearsals and other finer details," says Vijayakumar. The proposed function will draw the likes of Ambareesh, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Mammootty and Mohanlal, among others.
